Fair Trade, Organic Mexico - Light Roast - 10 oz

Our Mexican is a washed bourbon coffee, fair trade and organic, from Cesmach - Reserve El Triumfo - Cafe de Mujer. It’s produced in El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, located in the state of Chiapas, Mexico.

"It is a coffee that exclusively women produce, from sowing to harvest, since they are in charge of their plot in the face of the migration of men," says Silvia Roblero, coordinator of the Female Coffee Program, of the Cesmachs Cooperative.

Each woman grows three hectares of coffee on average, and members have seen increases in income increases of around 30 percent. The co-op today boasts 224 women members: widows, some with partners and husbands that have emigrated for other work opportunities, and some private land owners themselves. As representation of the women in co-op, one women producer is on CESMACH’s board of directors, a massive step toward increased empowerment for women, especially in Mexico — a state with traditionally machismo culture.
